Following hiking prices of essential goods and services that has now posed serious suffering and hardship among huge proportion of the ordinary citizens living on less than a dollar a day, the disgruntled population are now calling on President Bio to sack the Minister of Trade and Industry, Peter Bayuku Conteh.
The Chief Executive Officer of Leadway Trading Company, Babadi Kamara, has informed journalists that his company has deposited into the government account the sum of Thirteen Million, One Hundred and Ninety One Thousand Four Hundred and Fifty United States dollars ($13,191,450) as revenue generated from the exporting of 4,950 containers of timber.
Many people have stated that in the interest of fairness, the Minister of the Lands, Housing and Environment, Dr Dennis Sandy and the Minster of Trade and Industry, Peter Bayuku in the President Bio government, who had been declared persons of interest to the Commissions of Inquiry must with immediate effect resign or face dismissal by the President.
Notwithstanding stiff uncompromising resistance from the All Peoples Congress whose erstwhile government ministers, deputies and heads of MDAs are under investigation by the three judge led Commissions of Inquiry, an overwhelming majority of Sierra Leoneans across tribe, region, politics, religion and class have praised President Bio for his revolutionary idea of subjecting former government officials to account.
Even those who initially thought that the Government’s Commissions of Inquiry into the activities of the former President Koroma led All People’s Congress (APC) government was a witch hunt are now expressing total shock at the indescribable financial revelations being made.
A top official of the Anti Corruption Commission has told The Satellite that the Commission is poised to track more of ex- President Ernest Koroma dynasty tax evaders, as the Thomas Koroma’s tax avoidance case involving US$127,547.75 is just a tip of the iceberg.
