The High Court is expected to deliver its ruling today Friday 25th July, 2025 on an injunction filed by two disqualified presidential nominees of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).

The disqualified presidential aspirants of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) are reportedly seeking court injunction ahead of the SLFA Elective Congress scheduled to be conducted on 2nd August, 2025.

Thomas Daddy Brima and Aminata Bangura have appeared before Justice Alfred Ganda at the High Court in Freetown, challenging their disqualifications and seeking an injunction to halt the SLFA Elective Congress. After the court has heard arguments from all parties, a ruling is expected today.

Both parties were disqualified after thorough integrity checks found breaches ranging from submission of falsified documents to inconsistencies in official records and a failure to comply with screening procedures. The SLFA Ethics Committee operated under Articles 60 and 63 of the SLFA Constitution and the 2020 Ethics Code and Regulatiins.

While we cannot comment on the matter in court, what we are vehemently condemning is making the leading aspirant of the SLFA presidential contest, Babadi Kamara a scapegoat for the disqualification of the sitting President, Thomas Daddy Brima and Aminata Bangura by the SLFA Ethics Committee.

The Ethics Board has not only cleared Kamara of all wrongdoings, it also fined several petitioners for what it deemed frivolous and malicious complaints, further underlining the baselessness of the claims against Babadi Kamara.

Instead of making him a scapegoat for the disqualification of the two parties now in court, Sierra Leoneans should be commending the SLFA Ethics Committee for ensuring integrity and fairness in elections conducted by SLFA, so that very credible executive will run the day-to-day affairs of the Association for the development of football in the country. That's why we believe, the decision of the Ethics Committee should be respected by all football stakeholders to ensure that

Elective Congress goes ahead as planned for the good of football in the country.

As the court ruling is expected today, we pray that the truth shall prevail so that the football family in Sierra Leone will be firmly united ahead of the Elective Congress. Any change is bound to have legal ramifications that will further deepen the divides in the football family and have a very negative effect on the develop of football in Sierra Leone.
