The ongoing political dialogue which representatives of the Commonwealth of Nations, African Union (AU) and ECOWAS are mediating between the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) and the main opposition All People's Congress (APC) party in order to end the Sierra Leone's political impasse seemed to have yielded dividend.
According to reliable sources keenly following the political dialogue, the outcome of the meeting with independent mediators and the two parties on Thursday 7th September, 2023 was very successful as both sides agreed on certain issues that have to be discussed further.
The APC, sources disclosed, agreed to take their seats in Parliament if the concerns they have raised are looked into genuinely or they would continue with their defiant stance to boycott State governance.

The APC is disputing the Saturday 24th June, 2023 multitier election results which gave His Excellency President Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio of the governing Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) a second term in office. They claimed that the results lacked transparency and urged the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) to announce results by pilling stations.
The ECSL rejected the APC's request which led to the party boycotting State governance. It could be recalled that over a week ago, the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC) announced that President Bio has agreed to dialogue with leaders of the main opposition APC together with independent mediators to end the current political impasse in the country.
