One of the ringleaders of the assailants, Amadu Koita, and eleven (11) others will today Tuesday 9th January, 2023 make their second appearance for their roles in the Sunday 26th November, 2023 failed coup attempt in Freetown.

The charges include Treason, Misprision of Treason, Harbouring, Aiding and Abetting the Enemy, among others. The 12 accused were before Presiding Magistrate, Santigie Bangura of Freetown Court No. 2. Other accused include ex-police and correctional service officers, former Minister in the erstwhile APC Government and the current National Organizing Secretary of the political party, Bai Mahmoud Bangura, who is reported sick and at present responding to treatment at the Kingtom Police Hospital.

All accused have legal representations.

Meanwhile, other accused related to the November 26 failed coup attempt are expected to be charged to court in the coming days.
