Commissioner of the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), Ambassador Mbaimba Ndomahina, and the Deputy Commissioner, Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, have hosted the Mayor of Bo City Council, His Worship Kobba Musa and the Mayor of Bonthe City Council, His Worship Mohamed M. Robinson, to strengthen the existing relationship between the Commission and the local councils.
In his welcome address, the venerable Amb. Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina thanked the Mayors and stated that city councils are forms of local government that are responsible for representing the interests of their constituents.
According to Commissioner Ndomahina, "As a government organization, NaCSA supports local governments, social sector ministries, and agencies in providing social services to deprived communities of the country. We have taken a leading role in supporting community-based, demand-driven projects and offering social relief programs including cash transfers to the most vulnerable citizens.
Our initiatives are now in line with the Government's ‘Big Five Game Changers.’ Through the strategic repositioning of the Commission brought about by our rebranding strategy, we can now guarantee timely, people-centred and demand-driven solutions to community demands and poverty alleviation.”
Based on his traditional etiquette, Commissioner Ndomahina through the Deputy Commissioner, Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, presented a symbol of honour to the Mayors as a way of appreciating them for the visit and for their unrivalled contributions to national development, specifically in achieving the 2018-2023 agenda set by the New Direction Government of His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio.
In their responses, the Mayors were very pleased with the warm welcome and the opportunity to meet with the Commission to discuss ways of enhancing sustainable rural development and achieving the plans outlined in the “Big Five Game Changers” agenda.
“I have never received such an honour since I assumed office as the Mayor of Bo City. As the eyes and representatives of the people, I am very optimistic that this strengthened relationship will provide opportunities for more development,”
His Worship Mayor Kobba noted. On a similar note, Mayor Robinson thanked NaCSA for the cash transfer and other NaCSA-led development interventions in his city.
The meeting ended with a renewed tone and hope for sustainable national and local development.
