The steady progress being made by the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) under its current Director General, Mohamed Fuuad Daboh, has created enough room for national development in the form of investments and other aspects of development.
Most people following the progress of this great institution are expressing their gratitude and appreciation to its professional staff for their dedication, hardwork and commitment in the provision of quality social protection for Sierra Leoneans.
DG Daboh is on record that since his assumption to that august office, his tenure has been eventful with successes.
Currently, NASSIT is working on introducing a scheme for Informal Sector workers; a Health Scheme and possibly other schemes that provide for contingencies like bankruptcy, scholarship among others for subscribers.
He made these declarations during a recent visit to the Hilton Cape Sierra Hotel at Aberdeen in Freetown.
In another development, while taking a retrospective look at the successes of the institution, the Director General commended the Board of Trustees for its diligent supervision of the activities of the Trust. He maintains that NASSIT’s success can be attributed to the dynamism and commitment the board is displaying.
On Human Resource and Administration, it is no secret that the DG has reason to praise the numerous moves undertaken by staff in training and development, welfare support in times of sicknesses, death, bereavement, marriages and naming ceremonies, education and also technical support to other divisions in their daily duties.
The Finance Division is doing considerably well in the area of prudent financial management, and being able to supervise the budget and budgetary controls, work with the Internal and External Auditors for the provision of Financial Reports and also managed the liquidity position of the Trust.
Sierra Leoneans, who are following the progress of NASSIT, are of the view that DG Dabor should be very pleased with the steady progress in the Investment and
Project Division and laud the Division for being able to revamp the Freetown International Conference Centre that is making huge income and the reengineering of some of their subsidiary companies such as the Sierra Estate Management Company- SEMCO among others.
At the same time, SEMCO is getting better in addition to the management of all NASSIT plazas in the country.
Consequently, the Public Affairs unit at NASSIT is highly commended by the general public for being able to consistently conduct face-to-face education to over 109 institutions nationwide for them to understand the work of NASSIT and its benefits.
