Making history as the first Sierra Leonean to hold the position in the 6th ECOWAS Parliament, Speaker Dr. Sidi Mohamed Tunis has earned widespread commendations for his remarkable tenure.

Addressing the assembly during the symbolic transition, Speaker Tunis underscored the ideals that have guided his stewardship a steadfast commitment to democracy, the rule of law, transparency and good governance. His leadership has been characterized by a relentless pursuit of these values, earning him praise from leaders across the ECOWAS region.

President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Omar Alieu Turay, hailed Speaker Tunis for his responsiveness to the aspirations of the people, noting that throughout his tenure, Speaker Tunis has remained attuned to the needs and desires of the region's populace, embodying the spirit of inclusive governance.

It could be recalled that Dr. Sidie Mohamed Tunis was elected the Rt. Honourable Speaker of the 5th Legislature of the ECOWAS Parliament in March, 2020 respectively.

He assumed the noble position with the passion to serve with dedication and commitment, knowing fully well that in our institutions lie the hopes of millions of citizenries across the West African subregion.

Over the last three years, the ECOWAS Parliament under his leadership has made great strides in progressing the policy of regional integration in practical terms and taking the regional programmes and projects to the doorsteps of the ordinary citizenries.
