His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio yesterday Tuesday 9th July, 2024 fired the suspended Auditor-General, Mrs. Lara Taylor-Pearce, and Deputy Auditor-General, Mr. Tamba Momoh.

This development comes after President Bio received Report from the Chairman of the Tribunal that was set up to investigate the suspended Auditor-General and Deputy Auditor-General.

Having perused the report, President Bio accepted all the recommendations of the report including the removal of the Auditor-General and Deputy Auditor-General, pursuant to Section 137 (7) (b) of the Constitution of Sierra Leone.

It could be recalled that Mrs. Lara Taylor-Pearce and Mr. Momoh were suspended in November 2021 on allegations of misconduct and consequently, a tribunal was established to investigate the alleged charges.

Having received the tribunal report on 12th June, 2024 and after perusing it, President Bio directed the Attorney-General to initiate proceedings to remove Mrs. Lara Taylor-Pearce as outlined in the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone.

The President’s other action was for the Audit Service Board to pursue the removal of the suspended Deputy Auditor-General, Mr. Momoh Tamba.
