The outgoing Chairman of the National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM), Momoh Konte, on Tuesday 12th June 2018, handed over his Chairmanship to his successor, Dr. Prince Harding, current Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party.

Making his remarks, Momoh Konte expressed thanks to the management and staff of the institution and former President Koroma for success in restructuring the country’s national Telecommunication.

The outgoing chairman said, NATCOM has never been a political institution especially the management, hence urged the newly appointed chairman not to encourage such under his tenure. He informed his audience that he was the first to be issued with a license in the area of telecommunication during the establishment of his company with the help of the new chairman.

He disclosed that when he took over NATCOM, internet penetration was as low as 10 percent but increased it to 73 percent. In terms of revenue, he said, he met Le700 M which has now increased to Le3 Billion every three month during his tenure.

Making his statement, Dr. Prince Alex Harding said, the handing over ceremony shows that not only one party rules the country, noting that there is good and bad politics since we are all political animals.

He said President Bio has given him the task at a time politics has changed hand and with high hope from people to improve telecommunication in the country, improve good relationship with companies as well as making customers expectations a must.
