Patrick Coker

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have declared one Patrick Coker of No. 10 Cannon Street, Freetown, a businessman who is now a fugitive, wanted following his alleged involvement with other young men in organising an illegal house party that was characterised by LGBTI, buggery and homosexual activities at the Fouran Bay Community in East End Freetown, which was reported to the police by some irate youths of Cannon Street on Saturday 6th February, 2022.

 AS investigation into those allegations continues as a result of the raid and statements obtained from eyewitness and residents of Cannon Street Community, the whereabouts of Patrick Coker remain unknown, while a manhunt has been mounted for his arrest.

According to police statement concluded by the investigator, Senior Inspector Amos Conteh, on the matter, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the East End Police Division in Freetown on Saturday 6th February, 2022 got a tip-off from concerned irate youths at Cannon Street that a social event of LGBTI activities, buggery and homosexual activities by some young men, including Patrick Coker, at a certain rendezvous in the Fourah Bay Community in East End Freetown.

The angry youths also informed the police in the tip-off that dozens of the young men at the house party were well clad in female attires in a particular rendezvous playing deafening music without seeking police clearance, much ro the chagrin of the neighbourhoods. They were also allegedly actively involved in LGBTI, buggery, and other same sex activities.

When the police invited those who allegedly organised the house party, they turned down the invitation, and it was against this backdrop that a crack team of police personnel from the East End Police Division led by Assistant Superintendent A.B. Kamara raided the Fourah Bay Community, and after a strenous search and observations, the police finally located the rendezvous where the house party was organised.

The police team immediately broke into the premises and arrested some young men suspected to be involved in same sex activities, which is illegal under the laws of Sierra Leone. Most of the arrested suspects were dressed in female attires, while a good number of the young men narrowly escaped from arrest, including Patrick Coker.

The arrested suspects were whisked to the East End Police Division and were told that they had been arrested for unlawful gathering, homosexual activities, and buggery that are illegal in Sierra Leone as prescribed on Section 61 of the Offences Against the Persons Act 1861 and carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

As the investigation continues, Patrick Coker, a Sierra Leonean who turns 23 years old on 22nd November 2025, was nowhere to be seen, having realised that he was no longer safe in Sierra Leone.

Consequently, the police declared him wanted, and the matter is now handled by senior police officers.

During the police investigation, statements obtained from Cannon Street Community irate youths and eyewitnesses at the time of the raid at the Fourah Bay Community seriously implicated Patrick Coker, who they described as a renowned gay activist in their communities.

Other suspects that were also identified as same sex activists were later apprehended at their premises and are currently waiting in police cells to be charged to court for various offences, including Offences Against the Persons Act 1861.
