A Sierra Leonean, Ibrahim Lamin Jalloh has been under serious life threat back home in his homeland of Sierra Leone as a result of refusing to replace his grandfather Mr. Alex B. Conteh in his position in a Secret society known as ‘Poro Society’ at Makeni Bombali District, Northern Province of Sierra Leone.

In an exclusive interview with one of our reporters, Ibrahim Lamin Jalloh narrated his story that on the 27th of April 2018 around 9:00pm he was inside room with his cousin Antonio when they heard a loud noise from a distance, were a group of elderly men led by his grandfather came to their room forcing them to join their ancestral secret society. But they had to put up some resistance as they have been doing for some time now, they were beaten heavily which led him to have 3 identical marks on his left hand. His cousin Antonio during the process had to lose his life, After two days of hiding around the village I went to Bo Town in the southern province of the country.

My grandfather said that since my dad was not around, I am the only one who should replace him and assume his position in the secret society, as his age will not permit him to perform some rituals. Little did he know that I was not around the village again. This information made him got angry and assured that whenever Ibrahim returns, they will make sure he replaces his grandfather by going through the initiation exercise.

In an exclusive Interview with one of the Secret Society members who refused to disclosed his name, he maintained that nothing will destroy their tradition, explaining that they inherited it from the forefathers, which Ibrahim should not break.
