The Director General of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA), Yankuba Askia Bio, has been hailed by well- meaning citizens for his proactive approach in the apprehension of a brand new 40ft container seventy-two hours suspected of having a chemical believed to be used in the production process of Kush.

According to confirmed reports, the astute Director General of SLPHA involved the Office of National Security (ONS) and State House officials in the joint operations that saw the seizure of the container and the disvovery of 26 cylinders of acetylene - a chemical believed to be used in the production process of synthetic drug Kush.

Preliminary reports state that the container is registered under the ownership of Marian Lavallie, a resident of west end Freetown.

The SLPHA and its partners have confirmed that the seized 26 cylinder of acetylene will be destroyed as part of the ongoing efforts to curb the spread and production of Kush in Sierra Leone.

The Authority and its partners have reiterated their commitment to strengthening Ports security and ensuring that the country’s entry points are not used for the trafficking of narcotic drugs.
