Angry citizens, especially Muslims have called on the President Bio’s government to show no mercy in prosecuting former ministers and officials of the past government indicted in the Hajj-gate corruption and those the Transition Report will accuse of having engaged in grand corruption at the expense of the long suffering masses.

Following our lead story published on Tuesday 3rd July 2018, captioned; Charles Mambu, Others May Be Exposed’ over the ‘’Ebola-gate’’, the public including civil societies reacted with numerous calls for investigation into the disgraced 2017 Hajj-gate fraud almost buried by the former government.

In a leaked sealed ACC indictment on the Hajj-gate, former Vice President, Victor Bockarie Foh, being the Supervisor of the Hajj Coordinating Committee, Sheka Sahid Kamara, former Secretary to the Hajj Committee and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s affairs, Abu Bakkar Carew are charged with corruption.
In order to put an end to this flagrant corruption in governance that has dented the country’s image, civil societies at home and abroad are calling on all patriotic citizens to collaborate with the ‘New

Direction’ in its drive to instill sanity and discipline into the country’s governance culture, irrespective of tribe, region and political affiliation.

According to them, the audioclip previously published on social media by one of the suspects, Nuru Deen, former Adviser to President Koroma was enough for the Anti-Corruption Commission to have invited for questioning all those he ingloriously named in the scandal.

In the clip, the former APC parliamentarian, Nuru Deen mentioned the former Vice President, Victor Bockarie Foh and the then Mines Minister, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray.

But when Sheka Kamara and Nuru Deen were recalled by the President from Mecca to be investigated, the two prominent figures he named were left out to the surprise of hundreds of Muslims that were summoned to State House by President Koroma to commiserate with the pilgrims that were deprived.

Hence, they urged the new Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Francis Ben Kaifala to fully investigate this corrupt scam and ensure those found wanting does not only make the necessary refunds but also pay extremely for it with custodial punishment.

Similarly, they have also urged the Center for Accountability and the Rule of Law to pursue vigorously the Ebola funds case in the ECOWAS Court, which he said, will prompt this government to bring to book all those that the Public Accounts Committee’s investigation into use of the Ebola funds found culpable.
“President Bio should take into consideration the criminality of such vicious act that resulted in many deaths that would have been prevented if those monies had been spent for their intended purposes and ensure those that diverted Ebola monies into their pockets face custodial punishment,” they affirmed.
