In its continued drive to plug financial loopholes that constituted a huge drain on the country’s scarce financial resources, a prudent cost-cutting Ministry of Finance has in collaboration with the Human Resources Management Office requested the National Civil Registration Authority to carry out a comprehensive biometric verification, registration and update of all civil and public servants paid from the Consolidated Revenue Fund.
The purpose of the exercise which will take place between September 10th and September 24th 2018 is to stop wastage of national resources, reduce and/or eliminate ghost workers, clean and sanitize government payroll to promote good governance, enhance transparency and accountability in government payroll system and to help in improving government and public sector management and development.
The verification captures all government workers who registered during the 2017 voters, and mass civil registration exercises. They must verify or confirm their details with NCRA by September 17, 2018.
Those who did not register must do so with NCRA by September 17, 2018.The exercise will also include updating of other information collected from public and civil servants by HRMO.
It will be done from 7AM to 6PM daily by NCRA staff/personnel at all district council halls and other centers designated by NCRA including Bonthe Island.
It is a must that all government workers who fall under the designated category go for the verification with any of the following identifications: Voter ID, 2017 registration receipt, national ID, Sierra Leone passport, appointment letter, posting letter and letter of attestation from respective MDAs, pin codes/regimental numbers including RSLAF, SLP, Fire Force and correctional services, NASSIT number.
For registration, any of the following documents will be required: birth certificate, national ID, Sierra Leone passport, letter of attestation from MDA/letter of appointment.
Those who for unavoidable reasons would not be available for the verification/registration can complete the process at a later date upon receipt of supportive document from head of the institution explaining reason(s) for their absence.
Any government worker who fails to undergo the biometric verification, update and registration exercise will have his/her name deleted from the Government payroll without further reference to him/her.
