Orange Sierra Leone, one of the leading GSM operators in the country has donated cash plus assorted cleaning equipment to the Freetown City Council (FCC) to aid the monthly cleaning exercise in the city introduced by President Bio.


The equipment which includes head pans, shovels, dustbin rubbers, brushes, hand gloves, mouth protectors among others worth millions of Leones

Speaking at the handing over ceremony held on Thursday 4th October, 2018 at FCC Head office on Wallace Johnson Street, Freetown, Orange Director of Corporate Affairs, Barry Honnah expressed appreciation to FCC, especially the Mayor for her efforts in ensuring people have clean and healthy city.

In a bid to achieve a clean city, he said, his company thought it prudent to make donation to complement the efforts of FCC and government.

Orange (SL) Human Resource Director, Jestina Betts disclosed that, the presence of their staff is a show of support of what FCC is doing to keep the city clean.

According to him, Orange staff would be in different places on cleaning day to aid FCC, as they want to make Mama Salone the cleanest and best city. This move by them to complement the government effort through FCC on National Cleaning Day, she said, is a way of giving back to their customers and community.
FCC Mayor, Yvonne Aki-Sawyer expressed thanks and appreciation to Orange (SL) noting her council is pleased to see collaboration between private sector and council in addressing the challenges in Freetown.

Her worship added that, the National Cleaning instituted by President Bio is a wonderful contribution to something which has to be deeper and more long lasting foundation.
Mayor Sawyer reiterated that, her council is pleased with Orange for joining them as they complement government efforts on National Cleaning Day.
