In less than a month, the country’s Anti-Corruption Commission issued an arrest warrant for the former immigration boss on allegations of serious passport crime committed under his tenure of office, and notified interpol accordingly, Alpha Kolifa Koroma had been arrested by UK Police on allegations of money laundering relating to his assets.

He has been released on bail and due to appear in court next month.

ACC has also confirmed to Satellite press that, his arrest is not unconnected to their investigations, hence, they will request for his extradiction to answer to serious corruption accusation relating to the issuance of service and diplomatic passports to illegal holders, for which, his deputy, Abdulai Timbo and other government officials were arrested and released on bail .

The immigration boss whose tenure of office under the former President Ernest Koroma led APC government the crime was committed, fled the shores of Freetown, prior to ACC investigation into the widespread issuance of the country’s diplomatic and service passports to non-public and civil servants.

Majority of those criminally issued the passports are said to be relatives of former APC government officials and prominent businessmen who paid thousands of dollars to obtain them.

According to report, illegal holders would be investigated together with their assets and countries visited, since the commission suspects that many of the visits made by these illicit diplomatic and service passport holders were to make illicit banking transactions, acting on behalf of politicians and former APC officials.

Kolifa’s arrest has left other APC government officials, especially those named in the damning Government Transition Report that have fled the country for fear of been prosecuted in the pending Commission of Inquiry absolutely nervous.

It is note while that, President Bio’s government through the country’s Anti Corruption Commission has vowed to leave no stone unturned in fighting corruption as well as tracking unexplained wealth acquired by former government officials.

Likewise, anyone found wanting of receiving money for and on behalf of the government and secretly pocketed it, irrespective of tribe, region and political affiliations, would compellingly cough up those money.
