An indigene of Robbiswala village, Mambolo chiefdom, Kambia district, a tradition predominant community, Mohamed Kamara, is now a subject of police investigation for the attempted murder of a tribesman and the burning of a secret society shrine in the community.
According to Police, Mohamed Kamara whose whereabouts is unknown is wanted for the attempted murder of his native, Alhaji Bangura and the setting ablaze of a secret society shrine, which incident occurred on 5th July 2017.
Police say, according to new initiates, the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim with a knife in the chest, when five men linked to the society were compellingly dragging him to the secret society shrine for initiation.
Fatmata Sesay, the fugitive’s mother confirmed the stabbing of Alhaji Bangura by her son, to the Police, but said it was a mistake. She said the incident occurred when they forcefully kidnapped her son to be a member of his father’s secret society
She also told the police that, her husband who happens to be her son’s father together with his society comrades have made several attempts over the past months to have her son initiated into the secret society compulsorily.
Meanwhile, Police say, they are in search of the accused Mohamed Kamara to answer to questions relating to the said offence but expressed fear that he is not apprehended by the victim’s families who have in their presence vowed to revenge their siblings’ stabbing.
Similarly, the wife of the victim, Mamasu Bangura, has put the police under undue pressure to have the absconded Mohamed arrested and brought to book to face the full force of the law.
