Gay Partygoers at Aberdeen beach yesterday suffered heavily in the hands of the Sierra Leone Police for what they described as "unlawful gathering".

Our reporter who was at the scene disclosed that whilst the partygoers were enjoying themselves at the Aberdeen Beach Bar in the evening hours, a patrol police team led by Sergeant Mohamed Sesay arrived and arrested some of the members. Sergeant Sesay told our reporter that the reason for that was to curb and eradicate homosexuality in the country. He disclosed that a total of seventeen young men and women were arrested whilst others ran away. Lesbianss and homosexuality have no place in Sierra Leone and people usually frowned at them thinking that such practices are sinful and that It is not decent for people to get involved.

The incident which happened on the 16th of May 2016 is one among many incidences reported by the police.
