The Ministry of Finance has approved the allocation of financial resources to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS) for the reinstatement of previous COVID-19 Allowances as Salary Increase with effect from September, 2022 amounting to NLe20.85 million (Old Le20.85billion); and, extra-budgetary allocations of NLe 9.3 million (Old Le9.3 billion) to cover weekly allowances of 45 Litres to eligible health workers.


This decision comes following submission of recommendations from meeting held with the Sierra Leone Medical and Dental Association (SLMDA).

The Financial Secretary, Sahr Lahai Jusu, on 27th July, 2022 responded to a correspondence by the Ministry of Health and Sanitation informing the Ministry of Finance of the meeting held on 19th July, 2022 with the SLMDA, to communicate the issues raised in the Ministerial Taskforce Meeting relating to a) reinstatement of COVID-19 allowances of health workers; and, b) weekly fuel allocation of 45 Litres to eligible health workers.

The letter required the Permanent Secretary in the MoHS to submit relevant documents including PETS Form 1 and Payment Vouchers for each hospital for the processing of this document on a quarterly basis.
