The Hon. Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh on Saturday 8th April, 2023 urged the people of Pepel and the entire Port Loko District to be at the forefront of the “no runoff” campaign for His Excellency President. Brig. (Rtd) Dr. Julius Maada Bio in the forthcoming presidential poll on Saturday 24th June, 2023.
Giving the keynote address at the launch of Kingho Railway and Port (KRP) at Pepel, a subsidiary of the Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) for the Upgrade and Reconstruction Project of Railway and Port operations with a total investment of US$153M to international standards at Pepel in the Port Loko District, Hon Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh thanked LRMG for bringing key stakeholders to grace the occasion. He described the event as a big day in the Sierra Leone mining industry as LRMG continues to do expansions under the visionary leadership of President Dr. Julius Maada Bio.
The Vice President emphasized that President Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio deserves a second inning because he has done exemplarily well for Sierra Leoneans especially in the Port Loko District, noting that the Government of His Excellency President Bio has taken more development projects to Port Loko District than any other district in the Northwest and Northeast Regions or probably more than all the other districts in the country.
Vice President Juldeh Jalloh highlighted the development projects which the Government of President Bio has taken to the district, including the construction of the newly commissioned state-of-the-art Freetown International Airport in Lungi, construction of numerous schools and healthcare centres, among others, and creating job opportunities as a result of the massive infrastructure development in the district. The Hon. Vice President therefore passionately appealed to his people of Port Loko District to not only reelect His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio to State House, but to also be at the forefront of the “no runoff” campaign for the President.
“I am here representing the Government and people of Sierra Leone and I am pleased with the company's strategic plan to expand the Rail and Port so that other users can have access and work collaboratively with LRMG,” the Hon
Vice President stated, adding that mining is very vital and as a Government, they will support LRMG to improve the shipping capacity of the Port and reconstruction of the Rail. He added: “We are happy with the investment, we are ready to collaborate with the company to boost the mining sector in Sierra Leone. These improvements will lead to increased opportunities for locals to access better facilities and services, as well as the possible expansion of tourism; all of this will result in a positive multiplier and feedback effect, which leads to further strengthening of the economic landscape.”
Dr. Juldeh Jalloh concluded by thanking LRMG for their immense support towards complementing Government’s vision and growth pace as it correlates with how mining communities and sectors can significantly benefit from the company's operations. He also commended LRMG for signing an MOU with CTC which indicates the company's support to third users of the Rail and Port as he informed the audience of Government’s vision to work with LRMG to establish a hub for mineral exports in the country.
