The Satellite can authoritatively reveal that the second highest decision-making body in the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party, the National Advisory Committee (NAC) is expected to meet this week to reconsider their stance on not participating in governance of the State following the Saturday 24th June, 2023 multitier elections.
It could be recalled that following the announcement of the multitier election results, NAC through a press release announced that APC would not participate at all levels of governance of the State and the stance was endorsed by all elected Members of Parliament and Mayors/Chairpersons.
They took the stance on grounds that the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) rigged the elections and therefore demanded a re-run of the elections.
Some stalwarts in the APC however opposed their party’s stance on constitutional grounds and therefore advised the party to challenge the results of the elections in court.
They have therefore called on the party to reconsider their stance.
Meanwhile, some civil society organizations, religious bodies and concerned citizens are calling for a political dialogue between the two political parties in order to end the impasse.
