The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education on Tuesday 30th January, 2024 instructed the University of Sierra Leone (USL) Registrar, Olive K. Barrie, to proceed on leaver with immediate effect.

This decision comes as Ms. Barrie’s contract expired on Wednesday 31st January, 2024, and an investigation is underway.
According to the Ministry’s statement, Ms. Barrie was asked to step down “pending investigations.” No further details about the nature of the investigation were provided.

Meanwhile, Ms. Barrie has been instructed to complete a comprehensive handover note to the Acting Registrar, Mr. Munda J.S. Lebbie.

This will ensure a smooth transition and minimize disruption to the University operations.

In another related development, the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education this week addressed a letter to the Chancellor of the University of Sierra Leone (USL) that the Court of the USL has been dissolved with immediate effect following the leadership crisis that has marred the university administration.
