The Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, on Monday 22nd April, 2024 held a working session with the Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko to consolidate multilateral gains, an audience requested by President Diomaye Faye of Senegal.

According to the Senegalese State Broadcaster (RTS), during his working visit to Senegal, Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh and the Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko discussed a number of topics including exchanges of experience and future prospects, especially with regard to food and energy sovereignty and the possibility of creating a mineral hub.

The working session also provided an opportunity for the two leaders to review the various agreements signed between Sierra Leone and Senegal.

The leaders also spoke about the mining sector with the production of iron in Sierra Leone and the discovery of gas in Senegal as they stated good cooperation could enable the two countries to transform and with the political will of the two Heads of State, this would be possible.

VP Juldeh Jalloh and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko also spoke about the reactivation of the Joint Commission to review the various agreements which was suggested to be held in 2024 either in Dakar or in Freetown.
