It now appears that the rule or principle that applied to the Deputy Leader of the main opposition All People's Congress (APC), Hon. Chernor Ramadan Maju, aka Chericoco, is applied in different ways to the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, and other executive members that comprised the National Advisory Committee (NAC), who have the intention to either vie as flag-bearers or to support potential aspirants they have already earmarked for the next National Delegates Conference slated for 2026.
Some aggrieved stalwarts in the APC
confided in this medium that the same rule or principle that compelled Hon. Chericoco to resign as Deputy Leader is the same rule that has kept the National Chairman, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, and his entire executive in office.
They claimed that the National Chairman also has the ambition to contest the leadership of the APC but has kept sealed lips over the issue, adding that most of the executive members around Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray have given him their words of support for him to contest the leadership of the party because of his experience and knowledge of the party.
According to one of the aggrieved stalwarts, "This is a real double standard where there are two sets of rules for two different people, and the rules are very unfair."
The stalwart therefore suggested whether or not the new APC Constitution allows NAC members to stay in office until the next convention in 2026, those who have the intention to contest the party leadership or have already taken sides must also resign immediately.
They accused Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray of playing games and therefore asked that he should come out clean or lose the confidence and respect of the party.
