Reports reaching the Satellite Desk revealed that the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) set to release the 2024 WASSCE (West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination) withheld results soon following concerns raised by the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE).

The Ministry has

raised serious concerns following WAEC’s decision to withhold the results of more than 25,000 candidates from the 2024 WASSCE. The withheld results had affected numerous students, leaving them in a state of anxiety and uncertainty about their educational futures.
The unexpected action of WAEC has left thousands of students and their families in suspense regarding their academic futures.

MBSSE took a proactive measure to address the state of affairs as the Sierra Leone Examination Committee met recently in a bid to thoroughly review each instance of withheld results per school.
According to report, the Committee were expected to have reviewed the causes of the withheld results by WAEC.

The Chief Education Officer at MBSSE who happened to be the chair of the committee investigated the 2024 withheld WASSCE results and the Ministry urged affected candidates, parents, and school authorities to remain patient for the outcome. MBSSE recently emphasized the importance of the Committee meeting,
underscoring its commitment to transparency and fairness in the examination process. The committee aims to ensure that no candidate is unfairly affected by administrative issues.

Reports say the committee expressed deep concern over the impact this had on students, particularly those awaiting results for college admissions or job applications.

Findings reveal that if the outcome of the meeting resolved to the release of these withheld results, it will bring a wave of relief to both students and their families, who have been awaiting updates with bated breath and a mark of hopeful step forward for the education sector.
