It emerged last night that there is now light at the end of the tunnel regarding the complaint brought to the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) by erstwhile Vice President Alhaji Samuel Sam-Sumans against his political party, the All People's Congress (APC).

Sources that are closely monitoring the matter at the PPRC have confided in this medium that Chief Sam-Sumana has multiple chances of winning the APC in the matter.

This could mean that the former Vice President would be eligible to contest for the standard-bearer race slated for February 2026.

It could be recalled that when the PPRC held a hearing on 17th November 2025 regarding the complaint by erstwhile Vice President Sam-Sumana concerning his membership status in the APC party, the hearing exposed continuous confusion and contradiction positions within the party regarding whether Chief Sam-Sumana was properly reinstated/readmitted after his earlier expulsion, with key documentation evidence (minutes and formal communications) either missing or not disclosed.

The matter remained unresolved, and the Commission is expected to continue with additional witnesses.

During the second hearing, the Peincipal Witness Hon. S. B. B. Dumbuya testified, detailing Sam-Sumana's 2015 expulsion from the APC and his later reinstatement through APC National Advisory Committee and the 21-Man Committee as ordered by the Sierra Leone High Court.

The case, which has captured national attention, focuses on the internal party conflicts and questions due process regarding Chief Sam-Sumana's political rights.

The outcome of the complaint could have the propensity to shape the political landscape ahead of the 2028 national elections and influence the future of internal democracy within the second oldest existing political party in Sierra Leone.
