The National Leader of the National Reform Movement of the main opposition All People’s Congress, Comrade Mohamed Sheridan Kamara Esq., has acknowledged and accepted the resignation of the Movement’s former National Coordinator, Ahmed Timbo.

He thanked him for the immense contribution that he made towards the setting up and progress of the Movement in their agitation for the democratization of the internal politics of the APC; whilst giving the reason, why NRM does not regret his resignation.

Below is the acceptance letter written by the NRM leader to the former
National Coordinator Ahmed Timbo:

Re: Letter of Resignation from the NRM, APC.

I wish to start by thanking you profoundly for your contributions to the movement. Those contributions shall ever be remembered in our struggle to put the internal politics of the APC on a democratic path.

We very started with you well, and you contributed immensely to the movement, but your thoughts have been adulterated by those who want to use ordinary comrades as pillars to perpetuate an oligarchy in the APC. To save the rest of my marines, the leadership of this movement has chosen to sacrifice your services by deleting you even before you tendered this resignation. So your resignation is a confirmation to my conviction that you had been consumed by the oligarchy.

I have read your letter dated the 29th day of January 2020, and I wish to communicate to you that your resignation does not come as a surprise. It was anticipated since the day you took the position of Head of a Task Force and Protocol, set up to lynch members of our movement, at the just concluded Press Conference in Port Loko.

However, in as much as I respect your right to belong to a group and the right to disassociate, let me make few clarifications for the attention of the public:

1. That prior to your resignation, you are no longer a member of the Executive Committee of the movement.

2. That I had deleted you from both the Steering and Executive Committees of the movement on the basis that you accepted an appointment from the APC Secretariat without the consent of the movement — an appointment that was purely based on preventing our membership from setting foot within the precincts of Port Loko at the time of the convention-turned-press conference.

3. That you have resigned alone as a member of the movement and not as an executive member.
The refusal to state clearly the names of people that resigned alongside with you is a clear act of cowardice, and the movement's badge of cowardice has been reserved for you. The inclusion of non-existing designations is also an act of dishonesty.

The movement doesn't have a National Treasurer. It doesn’t have Southern and Eastern Districts Chairmen. The intellectual depth of the NRM cannot allow us to have Coordinators chosen to serve in non-existing Southern and Eastern Districts in Sierra Leone.
What is more perplexing is when you indicated in your letter that all the genuine members of the movement also resigned alongside with you. That’s clearly a hoax. In your bid to sacrifice principles for appointments, you resigned alone.

While I, however, wish you well in your new appointment as the head of militant Task Force and Protocol for the secretariat of our party, I wish to entreat all reformers around the world that they should not be bothered with the resignation of any member of the movement. Nobody’s resignation (not even my humble self) will deflect the movement from relentlessly pursuing the democratic reforms we seek in our party, the APC. The NRM is more than determined to pursue the democratic reforms we seek, even if it means doing it with a handful who believes in the supremacy of democracy over the denial of democratic rights that have been normalized in our party’s internal politics.

I must confess that reformers around the world have made me proud, once again today. Your resignation has emboldened the NRM even further to fight impunity, arrogance and dictatorship in our party’s internal politics.

Your decision to resign is not unconnected to employment of the much trumpeted 99 tactics that failed to show their efficacy in the 2018 presidential elections. These tried-and-failed tactics will clearly fail to weaken the resolve of the NRM. We are a family, notwithstanding, the fact that we have moles within, as it is the case with most liberation movements across the world.

Once again, thanks so much for your services to the movement.
Sincerely,

Comrade Mohamed Sheridan Kamara Esq
Leader, NRM.
