The former Leader of Coalition for Change (C4C) party in Parliament, Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina, who recently declared for the governing Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) with two others, has secured the first place in the list of ten SLPP nominated Members of Parliament to represent Kono District in the Sixth Parliament after the June 24 multitier elections.

In his statement, Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina expressed satisfaction over the process and his position on the list of nominated MPs for the SLPP in Kono District, adding that he is grateful to the leadership of the SLPP at the national and district levels.

He averred that they made no mistake in choosing His Excellency President Brig. (Rtd) Dr. Julius Maada Bio for the SLPP leadership and that he believes the President can do more for the people of Kono in particular and the country at large.

Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina furthered that the people of Kono will vote for President Maada Bio as they believe in his leadership as well as the several historical injustices he has corrected for the people of Kono.

According to the shrewd debater in Parliament, “Kono had got a primary school for more than 112 years now with no university and that many more have been corrected by President Maada Bio in changing the narrative of the people. The people will vote for the 24 hours light they are enjoying now, the road construction, the maternal centre of excellence that is in progress, the more than 600 culverts and bridges rehabilitated in Kono, the Free Quality School Education (FQSE), these and many more have got a total assurance for the people of Kono to give President Maada Bio a second term with no runoff.”

Speaking on his exit from the C4C to the SLPP, Hon. Saa E. Lamina averred that the purpose for which the party was formed was betrayed along the line and the corrections were not accepted by some of the stalwarts, noting that since what he had always dreamt of for the people of Kono and the country at large is manifested by President Maada Bio’s Administration, he saw the need to be part of the trajectory.

“I saw President Bio manifesting and exemplifying the ‘Nation First’ plan of the C4C which was missing in the party as it missed that track,” he said.

“I saw all what we were advocating for in this Fifth Parliament of President Bio, his willingness to do more for the people of Kono pushed me to give him my full support and we may be part of it to ensure that his is achieved at its topmost.”

Hon. Saa Lamina however averred that he would still be a critical person in advocating for the people of Kono as well as to tap on every door to have the best for the district, adding trhat Kono had always been his priority and would always be.

All the three C4C MPs that declared their support for President Maada Bio and the SLPP were awarded the party symbol in the district as follows:
Saa Emerson Lamina, Simeon Johnny, Rebecca Yei Sam, Musa Fofanah, Sia Tommy, Steven Komba Quee, Sahr K. Momodu, Sahr Francis Gbondo, Bintu Gbanga and Sahr Mohamed Komba.
